About
Jace Stovall is a visual artist who is living and working in Louisville, Kentucky. Their work focuses on storytelling, identity, and intimacy, and how all of these things play into our everyday lives and interactions. In 2019, Jace created an illustrated story to accompany Stravinsky’s “Infernal Dance” in collaboration with the Louisville Orchestra and the Kentucky College of Art + Design,
and in 2018 their Senior Thesis work – a video installation titled “a spACE” – was displayed in Louisville's Speed Art Museum. They have also shown work in Louisville's Speed Cinema in 2016 and 2017. Jace is graduate of Spalding University (Kentucky College of Art + Design), receiving a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Illustration.

Artistic: Versed in traditional hand-drawn animation, stop motion animation, illustrative and narrative drawing, doll making, found object works, collage, painting (oil, ink, acrylic), photography (35mm and digital cameras), darkroom printing, ceramics, wire, woodworking and use of shop tools, gallery installation: assembling and hanging frames, mounting TV/monitors, fabric installation, fabricating walls, painting walls.

Kentucky College of Art and Design, Louisville, Kentucky 2018-2021 Have held the positions of Studio Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Special Projects Assistant, and Mansion Manager. Responsibilities have included engaging with students, designing KyCAD branded materials (i.e. backpacks, masks, folders, booklets), video production and editing, organizing and executing meetings and events, procedure writing, gallery installation of student, local, and international artists, supplies ordering, and upkeep with facilities for our Administrative building (the Historic Speed Mansion).
Build-a-Bear Workshop, Store 68, Louisville, Kentucky 2016 - 2019 Started as a Bear Builder in 2016, and after honing skills, moved to a Sales Lead in 2017. Responsibilities included leading the workshop floor, helping the team reach their full potential by coaching to company standards and setting goals based on every Bear Builder’s needs, leading through example with Experience First Station Standards, providing a safe and upbeat environment for guests and teammates, upholding visual standards, opening and closing the store, assisting the Assistant and Chief Workshop managers, and continually learning to further self growth.
Rauch Planetarium, Louisville, Kentucky 2017 An internship where the goal was to animate the opening of a film to play in the dome of the Rauch Planetarium. Tools that were used were 3D Element and SkyBox Mettle in conjunction with AfterEffects. Responsibilities included creating360 degree environments, building 3D modeled planets, camera placement and movement, research of planets and true to life space visuals, organizing sources for credits of film, communicating with the creative director, and storyboarding.
Easy123 Art, La Grange, Kentucky 2014 - 2015 Designer for local business creating painting kits. Responsibilities included product, package, website, sign, and publication design, taking calls from clients, following branding for clients such as Town and Country Magazine, and The Kentucky Derby, organizing/promoting events, making inquiries about possible partnerships with licensed brands, fabrication, and shipping of the product.
Buckner Elementary, Buckner, Kentucky 2014 Co-director in leading an art class for elementary students. Covering writing, photography, drawing, and painting, in order to create a magazine, and present student work at the end of the school year. Responsibilities included organizing meeting times and supplies, teaching and helping children learn about the arts, communication with Buckner Elementary school directors and parents, compiling and completing the layout for the magazine at the end of the year.
